Managed to pass my MOT. Bike was in repairs for the weekend and will be back in again tomorrow.

Had the head bearings repaired, new front tyre and wiring rearranged - altogether I'm not very happy. The bike was given back to me but the steering was off. I let the mechanic ride it and he refused to accept it. I rode it away regardless and told him that I'd give it a day or two and see if it was just me adjusting to it.

By the time I'd got home, I was so frustrated with the steering being wonky that I tried to fix it by holding the tyre between my knees and twisting the steering back. I later found out the the steering head nut is secured with 140nM of force, no chance I was moving that. At one point, I convinced myself that I fixed it but I was wrong.

In the end, I resorted to ringing a Honda dealership and explaining the situation. I took the bike down to them and they fixed everything for free and even pumped my tyres up. Given that it was right at the end of their shift too, they were extremely helpful.

The dilemma I'm in now is that I have to take the bike in for the next part of the repair, to the same garage that broke the steering. This job is bigger too - a new rocker cover gasket - this means the top of the engine needs to be taken apart. Will have to see what happens tomorrow!

Also been looking at getting a new air filter but didn't realise they were so expensive. I thought they'd be the same as an oil filter. Looks like I'll be paying around £30.
