Had my first MOT - didn't go too well. I looked up online a list of things to check before I went. I rushed through it all because it was freezing in the garage and I was a little short on time. I turned up with not a great deal of confidence, especially after getting lost on the way (they had moved address). The guy was nice enough but unfortunately I failed on both my front tyre (1500miles old!) and the head bearing. Also got an advisory for an oil leak as my rocker cover gasket had blown.
So when I go back, I'll have to wash my bike then hand it into a repair garage, another few days of waiting :( I hope to hell it passes this time! Overall cost is going to be £240 which includes:
Rocker Cover Gasket
Head Bearing
New Front Tyre
New Spark Plug
Service
Re-Mot
Labour
I don't think thats that bad! I had a full clutch re-install which cost around £350! Maintenance is costing me a lot, definitely going to have to stay on top of things to try and reduce the cost.
I've been continueously looking for a bike for next year. While I thought I was settled on a 2003 Honda CBR600f Sport, for a few hundred more (maybe even the same), I could get a CBR600RR. I'm going to do some quotes and work out how much the insurance is. I've been given the chance to sit on both and I much prefer the 600f being that I'm 6ft 2". I'm also worried that the RR could also be too much for me to handle as my first 'big' bike. The other argument is that I'm spending around £4-5k on bikes and I could get more bike for my money (RR instead of the FS), why wouldn't I? Help!
