Post-Crash

Writing this to take my mind of the work I've been doing recently. Had a really stressful week since the accident. At first, the third party was being a bit secretive about liability but now they've accepted liability for the accident which means everything should be covered within reason. I've been given a Bandit 650 for the time being and I've already done 320miles (in a week). Mainly this has been spent regaining my confidence and getting used to the extra 100kg! The bike itself is great, I love starting it up and hearing the fans and fuel injection come alive. It has a deep burble that feels incredible. The restriction (required by my license) has completely sapped the life out of it though - the throttle is limited so you can only turn it about 1cm round. This means its unlikely to ever get about 8k revs. The bike feels exactly the same in all gears, I can go around town in 6th gear relatively easily. Above 30mph, the bike feels as though you're packing air into a very small hole, not quite the brutal sound you expect from it's rugged looks. I do miss the flick ability of my 250 and I think I really took that bike for granted.

On a sad note as well, I rang up my claim management company a few days ago to be told my 250 was being written off as a Cat C (damage exceeds economical repair). This means, my last sight of it will be watching it be taken away in a white van. This is really quite sad, when I was apart from my first car, I never really had the same feeling. The bike was amazing, it never skipped a beat, did 7000 miles almost flawlessly, it handled brilliantly, took me literally all over the UK, was fully taken apart 3 times; all without a shrug. It was such a great idea buying that bike, despite my original thoughts, I am really going to miss it :( The bandit feels awful compared, it has no character.

I've been doing insurance quotes for a new bike. I thought funds weren't going to be an issue given my new job, but insurance is a right pain in the a***. I was looking at quotes for the zx6r and they were all around £7-10000! Even if I had that money, I wouldn't spend it just to insure a bike. My limit is around £1500. I don't know if this is because its the start of the riding season or what? I rang Bikesure because everywhere was simply refusing to quote and they stated that for a Supersport 600, you need at least 1yr NCB and to be over 22.

Got appointments for physio and a general medical, can't wait..
