I was looking at if I could perhaps do the screw recovery myself but I didn't want to do more damage than I'd already done. The bike to me isn't just a means of transport but also an investment in a new 'big' bike. I took it down to the workshop anyway and they said they wouldn't be working on it until tomorrow and they'll have to wait for parts as well.. I just hope the bill isn't too much. The spark plug thread had been cross threaded too so they said a 'heli-coil' was necessary - actually a really interesting process for restoring damaged threads. Fingers crossed the repair will go according to plan. Costing me £180...

Back to the garage - Heli Coils
So took the bike down to a 'reputable' garage on Friday. Obviously I couldn't reconstruct the cylinder head because I didn't have the screws anymore, so I had to push the bike from Byker to Scotswood Road which is about 3.5miles! Pushing the around 150kg of machinery was actually easier than I thought - did it in an hour which I'm pretty pleased with.
